The Persistence Of Smoke, documentary opera in one-act, will be presented in a double-bill with Kathleen Bader's Tentative Embrace, as a part of the Duke University Department of Music "Encounters: With The Music Of Our Time" concert series. Presented in association with the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies and The Graduate School. Featuring mezzo-soprano Sandra Cotton, soprano Nakia Verner, baritones Scott MacLeod and David Weigel, the Ciompi Quartet, and the Red Clay Saxophone Quartet. Free admission.

I will be serving as composer-in-residence at the inaugural Gesher Music Festival of Emerging Artists, at the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis. This concert will feature two recent solo works: Serenade for flute, performed by Sarah Frisof; and the premiere of a Suite for cello, commissioned and performed by Sara Sitzer, founding artistic director of the festival. Also on the program are works by Prokofiev, Mahler and Mendelssohn.

Elisabeth Halliday and Zach Herchen will be performing the premiere of The Person In The Room Wishes To Be Alone for soprano, saxophone and tape, libretto by Benjamin Rogers, as a part of the CD release concert of the "Emerging Voices" project. Also on the program are new works by Kathleen Bader and Adam Knauss.
The Person In The Room Wishes To Be Alone will again be performed by Elisabeth Halliday and Zach Herchen, as a part of the Emerging Voices CD release tour.
